SolarEdge Grid-Tie Packages
GT-SE? What are GT-SE packages? That's fancy lingo for "Grid-Tie SolarEdge" solar packages. It means that these are solar-electric system packages designed for homes that have utility-grid power today, but the homeowner is looking to reduce (or eliminate) their electric bill. (For more information about different types of solar systems, please read our "Why Solar?" Blog Post here.) These GT-SE packages feature SolarEdge inverter technology and DC power optimizers, high quality (and high value) solar panels from manufacturers like Canadian Solar & Peimar, and smart-designed and durable racking components from SnapNrack.
What's so special about SolarEdge? The SolarEdge DC-AC PV inverter is specifically designed to work with the SolarEdge DC power optimizers. Because an individual DC power optimizer is attached to each solar module and manages MPPT and voltage for that module independently, the central SolarEdge inverter is only responsible to invert the array's DC electricity to AC to be used by the home or sold back to the grid. So unlike a typical microinverter (that has to do all those functions), it is a less complicated, more cost effective, and more reliable solar inverter system. It also comes standard with a 12 year warranty, extendable to 20 or 25 years. The fixed string voltage ensures operation at the highest efficiency at all times (>97% weighted efficiency) independent of string length and temperature.
