A cable grip (also called a strain relief or cord grip) does two things: it seals the hole where wire enters an enclosure, and it locks the wire in place so pulling on the cable doesn't pull on the connection inside.
Why you need them:
- Keeps dust, moisture, and pests out of combiner boxes and disconnects
- Prevents tension on terminal screws and breaker lugs
- Required for code-compliant installations
Typical uses: Where PV wire enters a combiner box, battery cable enters an inverter, or any enclosure with a knockout that needs a weather-tight seal.
