Enphase Microinverters

Enphase.

In 2008, Enphase Energy launched the first commercially successful microinverter and continues to lead the microinverter market with a variety of sized products.

Microinverters?

So what is a microinverter? Traditional central inverters for a solar array are also known as "string inverters" to which multiple solar modules (or strings of them) are connected. Conversely, a microinverter is a small inverter that is attached to the mounting rails directly underneath a single solar module. DC power from the module is inverted to AC at the panel which eliminates high-voltage wiring to a central inverter.

Enphase microinverters are able to track the MPP or Maximum Power Point of the individual module in order to maximize energy production. Also because each panel is managed individually, shading or other problems with one won't affect the production of the whole array. The supplemental Enphase Envoy data monitoring system (detailed in a separate product page below) also allows excellent monitoring of each panel and the array as a whole. All of these benefit from Enphase inverters can add up to increased energy production vs a traditional string inverter arrangement.
