PV wire (photovoltaic wire) is the industry standard for connecting solar panels. It's a single-conductor wire designed specifically for the harsh environment of a rooftop or ground-mount array.
Why PV wire instead of regular THHN or USE-2?
- UV resistant – Won't crack or break down after years of direct sunlight
- Weather sealed – Rated for wet locations, rain, and snow
- High temperature rating – Handles rooftop heat without degrading
- Flexible – Easy to route between panels and through combiner boxes
What it's not for: PV wire is not rated for direct burial or for running inside a building without conduit. For those applications, you'll want USE-2 or THHN.
Available in: 10 AWG and 12 AWG (the standard sizes for panel interconnects), in various colors including black, red, and white.
